New teachers start in Wolfsburg
30 trainee teachers welcomed to the town hall

For us, education is more than a system - it is an attitude. Staying curious, being open to new things, learning for life: these values are firmly anchored in our city. So it was all the more pleasing that we were able to welcome 30 prospective teachers to Wolfsburg. At the official reception in the town hall, they were welcomed by Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann and our Schools division.
"Education is very important to the city of Wolfsburg. We see it as an attitude: to be curious about and open to new things and to remain inquisitive in all phases of life," emphasized Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann. "Wolfsburg is the new center of training for trainee teachers on their way to becoming teachers - and for some of them it is also their new place of residence. It is therefore a matter close to my heart to promote our city. Because in times of teacher shortages, Wolfsburg's schools need motivated young talent more than ever before."
City tour and view from the roof of the town hall
After the welcome address, Torsten Koch from the Schools division presented our school landscape and our broader understanding as a school authority. The group then went up to the roof of the town hall and then on a tour of the city. This gave the new teachers the opportunity to experience their future place of work and training first-hand.
About the Studienseminar Wolfsburg
The Studienseminar in Wolfsburg-Sandkamp has been training prospective teachers since 1976 - today it is located in Fallersleben. Here, trainee teachers are prepared for their work in a total of 15 subjects. The training lasts 18 months and specifically combines theory and practice - at seminar locations and in local schools.
Training schools include the grammar schools in Wolfsburg, Gifhorn and Meinersen, the Heinrich Nordhoff Comprehensive School, the Neue Schule Wolfsburg, the IGS Gifhorn, the IGS Sassenburg and the Leonardo da Vinci Primary and Comprehensive School. Church schools in Wolfsburg and the surrounding area are also included.
Twice a year - in February and August - new training cohorts start their traineeship. For Wolfsburg, this regularly means a breath of fresh air and committed junior staff for the schools.
