World Alzheimer's Day 2025 in Wolfsburg
Under the motto "Experience diversity. Preserving memories together.", the city of Wolfsburg is drawing attention to the situation of people with dementia and their relatives with a campaign week from September 16 to 29, 2025. The occasion is International World Alzheimer's Day on September 21.
The aim of the campaigns is to create space for information, exchange and networking in Wolfsburg, to sensitize the public and to raise social awareness of the needs of people with dementia. At the same time, the initiative to found an Alzheimer society in Wolfsburg is to be encouraged - as an expression of community responsibility and support.
The program offers a variety of free and barrier-free or low-barrier offers: from lectures and discussions, exhibitions and practical hands-on activities to opportunities for exchange over coffee and cake. The topics range from medical information and everyday aids to creative projects such as sewing nesting pillows.
The event will kick off on Tuesday, September 16 with a panel discussion on the topic of "Dementia in the community. Challenges and opportunities" at the Alvar Aalto Cultural Center. The city of Wolfsburg is calling on those affected and relatives to contribute their own experiences and opinions. Written statements as well as video or audio recordings can be submitted in advance - for example on challenges in everyday life or on what is missing in Wolfsburg. There is also the opportunity to express thoughts and suggestions in person on site.
The rest of the event will include a media exhibition, talks, a dementia trail, a provider exchange, school projects and practical offers for family caregivers.
