15 years of Onleihe
Wolfsburg City Library has been part of the Onleihe network since October 2010 and is now commemorating 15 years of its digital offering. "Of course, it wasn't without initial difficulties," recalls co-initiator Hans-Josef Menzel. But the 24/7 digital branch has long since established itself: Today, the Onleihe gives users free access to around 15,000 digital media - from eBooks and audiobooks to magazines. All that is required is a valid BildungshausCard. Late fees are a thing of the past thanks to automatic returns.
During the coronavirus pandemic, the eLibrary was the library's most important lending service and recorded over 10,000 additional loans. The advisory service has also been continuously developed - today the focus is on individual introductions, especially for Tolino users. The launch of Onleihe 3.0 is already planned for 2026, which will mark the next step into the digital future with new functions such as loan renewals and favorites lists.
