Art meets politics at lunchtime
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, the Städtische Galerie im Schloss Wolfsburg invites you to the first art talk of the new year at 12:00 noon. The guest is Anikó Glogowski-Merten, art historian and member of the German Bundestag.
Under the title Between cultural policy, freedom and public responsibility, Marcus Körber, Director of the Städtische Galerie im Schloss Wolfsburg, and Anikó Glogowski-Merten will talk about personal influences, political experiences and the role of art and culture in a changing society. Topics include growing up between East and West, life in and with politics and individual responsibility in times of profound social change. Another focus is on the importance of artistic freedom as a cornerstone of democratic societies - understood as a personal and social resource in phases of upheaval and uncertainty.
Afterwards, the gallery invites you to lunch together in the historic Jagdsaal. The meeting point is the Flame of Revolution in the east wing of the palace. The participation fee including lunch is 12 euros. Binding registration is required by Wednesday, January 7, 12:00 noon at aufsicht-galerie@stadt.wolfsburg.de or 05361281012. Subscribers do not need to register separately.
