The Geoinformation and Geodata Analysis department in the Data, Strategies, Urban Development department of the City of Wolfsburg is the central coordination and competence center for GIS and geodata of the city administration. The department is responsible for the technical provision, operation and development of all components - from specialist procedures to WebGIS - of the municipal geodata infrastructure (GDI). As part of the Smart Cities model project, which is supported by the German government, the team has taken on the innovative tasks of data platforms, real-time data, sensor technology and digital twins.

Your activities:

  • Collaboration on innovative Smart City projects
  • Development, implementation, programming and customizing of adaptations and extensions of the GDI components including the conception and definition of data models and workflows in close cooperation with the specialist departments and users
  • Project support in the realization of GIS / WebGIS projects of the city administration
  • Collaboration in the planning, installation, configuration, administration and ensuring the ongoing system operation of central servers, software components, databases, interfaces, applications and procedures of the GDI of the city of Wolfsburg
  • User support (support, training, consulting)
  • Geodata management (administration, data acquisition and maintenance, preparation, analysis, quality control, visualization, provision, backup)
  • Development and optimization of workflows for the automated processing of geodata

You bring with you:

  • Successfully completed university or university of applied sciences studies (Bachelor's, Master's or Diploma) in geoinformatics, computer science, business informatics, administrative informatics or comparable training
  • Sound knowledge of object-oriented programming and plug-in development as well as programming experience with JavaScript, Python and SQL in modern programming environments with version management
  • Experience in working with databases
  • Knowledge of the application and development of web technologies in the associated IT environment
  • Ideally knowledge of the organization, structuring, processing and analysis of large amounts of data / 2D/3D geodata
  • Ideally knowledge of QGIS and/or ArcGIS software
  • Careful, responsible and independent way of working
  • Communication skills in German
  • Solution orientation, creativity and team spirit
  • Open-mindedness towards new technical developments and future technologies
