The Citysofort program
To make Wolfsburg even livelier, more inviting and more attractive for its citizens and guests, the city of Wolfsburg is setting aside a special budget of 550,000 euros for both 2025 and 2026. Following an expert review, these funds will be used to prepare and implement proposals such as a safety concept with retractable bollards and more pleasant lighting, more greenery and a drinking fountain in northern Porschestraße, a disposition fund to financially support private commitment, a selfie photo point and experiencing the urban development of tomorrow through augmented reality. Together with the measures that have already been completed, are currently being implemented or are planned using the city budget, subsidies or private investment, they form the City-Sofort program.
City center development is one of Wolfsburg's future topics. In order to upgrade the city center, projects have already been completed, are being implemented or are in the planning stage in many places between the north and south ends. Areas throughout the city center have been unsealed and mobile greenery and additional street furniture have been installed. A pop-up playground was set up at Nordkopf. Further measures such as a 3x3 basketball court, a boulder block and bouncy games will soon be added in Porschestraße. These measures are being financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) via the Resilient City Centers funding programme.

3x3 Basketball
As part of the participation formats for inner city development, many Wolfsburg residents wanted more sports and play facilities in the city center. As part of the "Porschestraße usage manual incl. immediate measures" funding project, which is being implemented with funding from the "Resilient inner cities" program, various offers are to be tested at different locations during the summer months.

In summer 2025, the trend sport 3x3 basketball, which has been popular since the last Olympic Games, can be tested at Nordkopf.
No ball with you?
You can spontaneously borrow a basketball from the "Haltestelle" youth center right next door.Rules of the game:
Unlike traditional basketball, in 3x3 two teams of three (instead of five) players play for just one basket. There are hardly any breaks during the maximum ten-minute game. It goes back and forth almost continuously. The team in possession of the ball has a maximum of twelve seconds to attack.
The team that is leading at the end of the game or has already scored 21 points first wins. In the event of a tie, the game goes into overtime. The first team to score two points wins.

In summer 2025, the urban trend sport of bouldering in particular can also be tested on a small scale opposite C&A in Porschestraße.
What exactly is bouldering?
The term "bouldering" is derived from the English word "boulder" and means climbing without a rope at jump height - i.e. a height from which you can still jump without risk of injury. Bouldering is a separate discipline of sport climbing and has undergone rapid development in recent years. This climbing discipline is all about solving problems, i.e. reading boulders correctly. Therefore, not only physical fitness is required, but also mental strength, because often the first attempt does not work.

In summer 2025, temporary bouncy and floor games in the Forum and in front of the City-Galerie will invite visitors to jump, laugh and let off steam.
Heaven and hell or animal parkour? Creativity knows no bounds - so in April 2025, the motto was "Invent your own bouncy games!" and submit them to the city. The designs submitted by families and school classes were then viewed and evaluated by Wolfsburg children and young people. The winning designs will be temporarily installed in Porschestraße. A repeat of the submission of bouncy and movement games and their implementation in Porschestraße is planned for 2026.

MITMACH Square

In addition to professional event offerings, the diverse club life and voluntary work should also be given a space in the city center. In the heart of Porschestraße, the MITMACH square advertises the opportunity to hold non-profit social, cultural or sporting events free of charge. Associations and organizations have the opportunity to present themselves and their offers and activities free of charge in the city centre and thus promote a sense of community.
City Management provides advice and support from the initial idea to the application and implementation.

3Centers? - Lanterns and Triple Mystery
We are diverse, full of contrasts, underestimated. Not what you associate with Wolfsburg? It is for us.
As part of the "Sustainable inner cities and centers" funding program, we are implementing the 3Centers idea with you. The aim is to make Wolfsburg's diversity visible and to highlight the historic city centers of Fallersleben and Vorsfelde in addition to the city center. Because we are young. And we have history. We are three times surprising. Simply three times wow.

The lanterns in the city center visually echo this idea and communication of the campaign. Blue and purple stand for our modern city center, orange for the warm tones of the castle in Fallersleben and the red roofs and green for the special quality of life in Vorsfelde with its proximity to the Drömling and the Aller.
