Electioneering

In Wolfsburg, around 900 election workers will again be on duty at the polling stations during the elections. If you are interested in volunteering as an election worker, please fill in the online form with your personal details.

We will try to meet your wishes. The sooner you declare your willingness, the more likely it is that your personal wishes for the deployment location will be taken into account.

Staffing of the election committees will begin approximately three months before the election. As soon as the election date has been set, further details, for example on the further procedure and the amount of the expense allowance, will be announced here.

  • What is the election committee and what are its tasks?

The task of the election committees is to ensure that the elections are conducted in an orderly manner and that the results are reliably ascertained.

They work as a team. The election committee consists of
    • Chief Electoral Officer
    • secretary
    • their deputies and
    • some assessors

Your tasks include, for example, checking the electoral roll, issuing the ballot papers, counting the votes after the polling stations have closed and deciding on resolutions. They also check whether a person entitled to vote is in the correct voting room.

No special knowledge is required; you will receive all necessary information through training and information material.

  • Registration as an election worker

Election workers must be eligible to vote in the respective election.

Germans or citizens of another member state of the European Union are eligible to vote in the state election on 09.10.2022 (so-called active voting right) if they are 16 years old on election day and have been resident for at least three months in the respective electoral area in which they wish to vote (main residence in Wolfsburg).

For the Bundestag election, the minimum age is 18 years. German citizenship is also a prerequisite.

For organizational reasons, registrations for both elections are preferred. This requires a minimum age of 18 years and German citizenship.

  • Expense allowance

An expense allowance is paid for work as an honorary election worker.

  • Operating time

The polling stations are open from 08:00 to 18:00. It is not necessary that all members of the election committee are present throughout this time - each individual election worker is usually on duty for half a day (morning or afternoon). The counting of the election results from 6:00 p.m. onwards is carried out by the entire election committee. The attendance times must be coordinated with the election committee shortly before the election Sunday.
