    General information

    For your re-registration after moving to Wolfsburg from another municipality or moving within Wolfsburg, the online process of electronic residence registration is available to you and should be used preferentially.

    Procedure:

    If you have all the documents listed, you can start the electronic residence registration process here.

    The online service guides you step by step through the process and is divided into four steps:

    1. You provide details of your new home. If you do not own the apartment, upload your landlord's confirmation of residence.
    2. The registration office checks your details, carries out the registration process and informs you by e-mail.
    3. You return to the online service and retrieve the registration confirmation. You then update the address on the chip of your ID document.
    4. You will receive address stickers for your ID card and passport by post. You can simply stick these on. That's all there is to it

    The address or residence sticker is produced by Bundesdruckerei and sent to you by post. The sticker must be affixed to the document upon receipt.

    Requirements and documents

    • A valid ID card or an eID card with activated online ID function (can also be reset at the quick counter in the residents' registration office without an appointment).
    • a BundID account and the installed AusweisApp2 on your smartphone or on your PC/notebook with USB card reader
    • a fully completed landlord confirmation of residence

    Deadlines

    Registration must be completed within two weeks of moving in.

    Processing time

    If the information provided is complete and plausible, the registration office will usually process the application within three working days.

    Important to know

    • The online address change in the ID card is only possible once
    • The letterbox should be labeled so that the sticker can be delivered
    • The online service does not support electronic residence permits (eAT)
    • Immigration from abroad is not possible
    • If not all household members are registered, a personal visit is necessary
    • In the case of spouses, partners and family members with the same move-in dates (move-in date and previous and current residences), registration by one of the persons required to register is sufficient.
    • If you own a car, you must also change the address in the registration certificate part I (vehicle registration certificate) - this can be done online via our i-Kfz service

    When is an appointment at the residents' registration office necessary?

    • If a secondary residence is to be retained or a new secondary residence is to be registered
    • When moving from abroad
    • When using an electronic residence permit (eAT)
    • If information in the online service is incomplete
    • For minors who are not registered

  Requirements for an online application

  To submit an application online, the following requirements must be met:
  
  

  • A new ID card or an electronic residence permit, in each case with the online ID function enabled.
  • A card reader for reading the ID document
  • An ID card app from version 1.13.. Unfortunately, earlier versions cannot be used.

  If necessary, a digital capture device (e.g. scanner or digital camera) to upload evidence.

  You are entitled to a resident parking permit if you move into an apartment that is located within a certain parking zone. Currently, there are zones A-H in the city center area and one parking zone each in Fallersleben and Vorsfelde.
